"Resiliency is to source within self

Functional Resiliency Training

Embodying Our Best Selves

Functional fitness refers to movements, patterns, and exercises that support our fundamental biomechanics and develop improvement in the areas of strength, mobility, and natural physiological functioning — humans are a part of the natural world, after all, whether we embrace it or not. When we focus on how our bodies and internal systems are designed (to hold weight, process nutrients, respond to external stimuli, etc.), we increase our range of natural resiliency towards movements, foods, and stressors that introduce dys-function (or require, as a defence mechanism) so that we can spend more time reacting from or returning to our balanced centres of inner connectedness.

My contribution in this area is to relay and support your unique exploration through the Functional Patterns framework. This modality focuses on results (as opposed to process) because fit-ness is not a “one-size-fits-all” when it comes to bodies, experiences, or conditions. I am trained (and have personal experiences) in the breadth of tools, exercises, and instructions, which I then compliment and customize through my personal attunement. Our focus together is to building resilience — using functional posture as our access point and fulcrum for change.

Sessions are highly customized based on each individual’s goals, intentions, willingness, and comfort.

Training Formats

Private Training

Personal Empowerment.

Private sessions cultivate your personal learning and allow for the customized application of activities & techniques as we learn and work together. Sessions are designed to meet you where you're at every time, meaning we adjust to your comfort level, exertion capacity, emotional state, and/or focus areas of interest (could be related to mobility, pain management, strength development, stress management, etc.).

By programming flexibly, we learn to allow for non-linear models of development and acceptance as we experience growth, challenge, and change.

Formats:

  • One-on-one

  • Semi-private (up to 3 people)

Group Programs

Containers for development.

Private group sessions, workshops, or events to share and experience learning and development within community. As a series, there will be customized application of activities, techniques, and focus areas in support of the group to develop and progress together.

Flexibility in duration, frequency, and location can be accommodated and equipment needs are minimal (in most cases).

Open Classes

Connect. Cultivate. Practice.

Group class offerings support the practice and application of building intentional habits and connecting with like-minded people interested in more holistic and integrated styles of development. The flow of a class may be influenced by who is present and sessions lean towards opportunities to practice over targeted program design for individual needs.

I am writing this testimonial to affirm just how transformative Kelley’s Functional Fitness training has been for me. As a former active participant in sports, weight training and running, I have mostly traded all that in for yoga over the last seven years. While that has been a great lifestyle change for me, especially for my mental health, I do believe that some of my movement-based strength as well as coordination may not be getting the attention it needs. I have been working with Kelley for over two months now and I can see marked improvements in my energy levels, balance, strength, and coordination.

With the years whizzing by now, I am concerned about my ability to remain active and healthy so I can enjoy doing all the physical activities I love. I feel like the Functional Fitness training has become engrained in my routine and I am enjoying re-establishing strength and athletic coordination. I can see this being a long-term addition to my health and wellness regimen. I would recommend letting Kelley give you an assessment and put you through the paces for one or two classes so you can see and feel the benefits.

Kelley's class is truly something special. I feel reconnected with my body with deeper awareness of my movement patterns and misalignments. Kelley was so helpful in directing my attention back to these patterns in such a compassionate and supportive way. It was the perfect balance of motivating, playful, educational and engaging. She also has beautiful and radiant energy that is so healing! I ended the class in tears of gratitude for finally finding someone to help guide me back into a better relationship with movement!
